[NSIC] The straight through lanes in the diagram has two lanes for each direction, but the flat intersection has four lanes for each direction. Could this be a problem?

No, that is not true.

Please refer to the aerial photograph below.
The photograph is of a SPUI (Single Point Urban Interchange) the Yanjae Station Intersection with four-lanes per each direction for a total of eight lanes. The east-west straight through traffic uses the lower SPUI to pass through the intersection in a two-lane (total of four lanes) road.

In other words, straight through traffic in two lanes without signals could handle the same amount of traffic handled by a four-lane per direction road (total of eight lanes) with signals.

There are a total of 12 directions of travel, excluding U-turns, in a given intersection. (There are a total of four directions of entrance, and each traffic could pass through, make right turns or make left turns for 4x3=12)
In the Yanjae Station SPUI, only the east-west and west-east straight through traffic can travel without signals out of a total of 12 directions possible. In other words, traffic in two directions out of 12 can travel without signals.
East-west straight through traffic use two-lanes per direction.

North-south traffic uses all of the four lanes per direction, but they must stop for signal.

Now, refer to the non-stop Interchange with left-right off ramp right merge ramps.
. Straight through, left and right turns from all directions could be made without signals. Straight through traffic utilize only two lanes, but it is connected with four lanes per direction signalized road to let all straight through traffic without being slowdown by signals.
In other words, the non-stop Interchange with left-right off ramp right merge ramps by RoadNext allows traffic entering from a four lanes per direction traffic to freely pass through the intersection into all 12 directions as traffic can travel straight through in north-south direction in the SPUI intersection at Yangjae Station Intersection.

If the straight through traffic is to utilize three lanes per direction, one of the left and right off ramp would have to be treated as a turn pocket, and one of the merging lanes would have to be treated as a tapered lane.
